Challenge: Find 5 old products + a newbie
There comes a point in our makeup/clothing addictions where we buy so many new things we forget about some old gems lurking in the back of the vanity or closet. Am I right?
Once every few months I like to go "shopping" through my own stuff and most of the time I'm surprised by what I find. Here's five beloved products I almost forgot about and a couple of newbies, in no particular order:
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Lip Gloss Kit - Fall
This one is really a sin because it was unopened! I bought this set specifically for Raisin, and it did not disappoint. I can be a little gun-shy with dark and vibrant colors so I prefer to test the waters with a gloss versus a lipstick or stain. These are highly pigmented, though.
2. Inika mineral foundation (powder) in the shade Grace
Inika is an Australian brand that I fell in love with years ago when I started having issues with breakouts. It's the cleanest makeup I've ever used and it gives nice coverage. Any time my skin starts acting up I turn to this.
3. Buxom True Hue Blush in Swept Away
I mentioned this in my bridal makeup post...but it's been around for a while and the shades are so soft and pretty. I tend to prefer lighter shades on my eyes in general and this has some nice ones. For an everyday makeup look, I like using the light shades from this palette on my lid and brow bone and the neutral browns in the Bare Neutrals palette in my crease.
5. bareMinerals Gen Nude matte liquid lipstick in Swag (pictured: Slay)
Swag. is. my. jam. It's a mauvey, pinky neutral shade that dries matte but not flat (hey I rhymed there) and lasts a pretty decent amount of time. I'm not big on long-wearing shades because they tend to be drying. This one is not. And it tastes like chocolate, but it's not overpowering or sickening.
Finally, the newcomer, at least for me. Too Faced Hangover Primer!
I bought this because it's silicone-free and recommended for sensitive skin types, but I am such a baby with my skin I haven't even tried it yet. My skin is such a problem with most products (that's for another post) and I have to be so careful. I've heard good things about this one and I've been doing patch tests and so far so good, so keep your fingers crossed for me.
I hope you guys enjoyed this tour of my island of lost makeup! I challenge my fellow beauty bloggers to dig through their own collections and find 5 forgotten products. Let us know what you find! :)
P.S. the box pictured above is a company I discovered over the holidays, Olive & Cocoa. They have really unique, beautiful gifts. Check them out here.
